Admission Requirements for the Bachelor Course

To access our Bachelor in International Hospitality Management, you must have successfully completed your final secondary school examinations, qualifying you for university admission in the country where you went to school. In general, we require grades that are well above the minimum pass level. We also take into consideration the difficulty of the courses you chose, and prefer subjects that develop the analytical skills needed to succeed at EHL Campus (Singapore).

Candidates are also required to have acquired at least the equivalent of one year of professional experience full-time in hospitality, either professionally or during their studies. Please contact admission@ehl.ch for further details regarding our professional experience requirement.

The minimum age for entry to our Bachelor's course is 18.

Language Requirements

English

English communication skills are essential for success in our programs. That’s why all applicants need to demonstrate a minimum C1 level in speaking, writing, reading, and listening.  

Students who commence their studies in the Preparatory Year must:  

  • Provide proof that for the last 3 years of their secondary education they studied in a school where English was the main language of instruction  

  • Or study one of the following curricula in English: IB, French Baccalauréat (OIB or BFI), Swiss Bilingual Matura, Academica Dual Diploma or the European baccalaureate.  

  • Or provide one of the following English language certificates with the following minimum requirements: 

    • TOEFL (iBT) - Overall 5 | Speaking & Listening: 5  

    • Cambridge C1 Advanced - Grade B | Speaking & Listening: Grade B   

    • IELTS Academic module – Overall 7.0 | Speaking & Listening: 7.0  

    • TOEFL Essentials – Overall 10.5 | Speaking & Listening: 10  

    • Duolingo – Overall 130 | Speaking & Listening: 130  

 

Students who achieve the following minimum scores must attend the mandatory English classes and exam given during the Preparatory Year.:

  • TOEFL (iBT) - Overall 4 | Speaking & Listening: 4  

  • Cambridge B2 First - Grade B | Speaking & Listening: Grade B   

  • IELTS Academic module – Overall 6.0 | Speaking & Listening: 6.0  

  • TOEFL Essentials – Overall 8.5 | Speaking & Listening: 8  

  • Duolingo – Overall 110 | Speaking & Listening: 110 

Please note that your command of English will be assessed during the admissions process and EHL reserves the right to ask you for an additional English qualification or course.

Secondary Education Credentials

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP): 

  • We only consider full IB Diploma 

  • From September 2026 to February 2029 intakes:

    • Minimum 28/42, priority to 30/42 

    • IBDP recommended subject choice, priority will be given to students with the below subject choice: min 1 HL in business/economics/natural sciences/math; at least one natural science (HL or SL); math at SL or HL, both math streams accepted; HL languages encouraged. 

  • From September 2029 intake onwards:

    • Minimum 30/42 

    • Must fully meet the IBDP subject and level requirements to remain eligible for the EHL Bachelor program: min 1 HL in business/economics/natural sciences/math; at least one natural science (HL or SL); math at SL or HL, both math streams accepted; HL languages encouraged. A 6th subject can be considered but cannot replace the above-mentioned subjects. 

  • Please make sure your final exam results are released through transcripts.row@ibo.org, indicating your EHL (Ehlisa) student number for identification purposes as well as EHL’s institutional code: 002346.

Swiss Diplomas

  • Maturité gymnasiale/fédérale/professionnelle/spécialisée: successful completion

British A-Levels 

  • Minimum 3 A-levels, including one quantitative (i.e., Maths / Further Maths or Business/Economics/Accounting) or natural sciences subject 

  • Minimum GPA of BBC  

Singapore A-Levels 

Upper secondary school-leaving certificate including at least 6 independent general education subjects, each with a minimum grade of C.

At least 3 of these subjects must be H2 (one of which must be mathematics, natural sciences, business, or economy subject), 1 H1 (in mathematics if not at H2 level) and 2 O-levels with min grade of C in each subject. Student must complete the project work and general paper OR knowledge and inquiry as well (pass grade). 

French Baccalauréat Général (from 2021)

  • Mathematics – only the two following options are valid:  
    • Spécialité in Première AND Spécialité in Terminale OR, 
    • Spécialité in Première AND complémentaires in Terminale 
  • Sciences: SVT or Physics-Chemistry in both Première and Terminale 
  • Minimum GPA: 12/20  

American High School Diploma (AHSD)

  • The AHSD must be accredited by one of the following agencies: MSA-CESS, NEASC,  WASC, or Cognia 
  • One of the following standardized tests is required in addition to the AHSD: 
  • SAT ≥ 1200 or ACT ≥ 24 or CLT ≥ 83 
  • If math has not been studied in the last 3 years, we require a minimum GPA of SAT Math ≥ 550, ACT Math ≥ 25, CLT Quant Reasoning ≥ 27 
  • All original score reports must be sent directly to EHL. EHL’s institutional code for SAT: 4102 and for the ACT: 5384 
  • Minimum AHSD weighted GPA: 3.2/5  

 

Students may choose to submit a combination of the above courses.

Selection Process for the Bachelor Course

All applications should be made online through our application module.

We will start reviewing your files once your complete application is received.

"Our selection process is designed to assess your skills and attributes. There are three phases: initial evaluation, online assessment, and final selection."

Select your Bachelor program options: Choose your campus, intake and language of study.

  • Choose your campus of study according to where you wish to follow most of the courses for the degree (Lausanne or Singapore). Please note the Preparatory year takes place on EHL Campus Lausanne for all students.
  • Choose the intake: when do you want to begin your studies? (spring or fall)
  • Choose your language of study: our Bachelor program is delivered in English as well as/and also available in French if you choose to study on EHL Campus Lausanne.

Please begin by creating a profile on our online application portal. You can save your file at any time and return later to upload documents and finish your application. You will be required to submit the documents listed below electronically via the online application portal. We accept documents in French, English, German or Italian.

All certificates and transcripts that are not in English, French, German or Italian must be translated into English by a certified translator. The translation should be accompanied by comprehensive information on the school or university attended and an explanation of the grading and assessment system.

During your online application process, you will be charged an application fee of CHF220. This payment may be made online using Visa or MasterCard. Kindly note that this fee is not refundable or transferable to another application.

Motivation Essay for the EHL Bachelor Program

The motivation essay is a key component of your application to the EHL Bachelor program. It gives you the opportunity to share your interests, goals, and personality.

Format Requirements

  • The essay must be typed on a computer.
  • It should be between 500 and 650 words.
  • Only written formats are accepted. Multimedia formats, such as videos, will not be considered.
  • You may choose a traditional structure (such as a motivation letter) or take a more creative approach.
  • Please include your name and the chosen topic at the top of the first page.

Purpose of the Essay

This essay allows us to:

  • Get to know you better
  • Assess your analytical skills
  • Evaluate your ability to organize ideas and express yourself clearly

We are looking for a personal, authentic, and engaging narrative.

Choose One Topic

Please select one of the following topics:

  1. Why did you choose to study at EHL? What criteria did you consider to determine that EHL was the right fit for you?
  2. EHL prepares students to become leaders in a competitive and global industry. What are your expectations of EHL and your career goals?
  3. What current trends in the hospitality industry do you find most interesting? How do you think EHL will help you address these trends in your career?

You will need to submit:

  • a copy of your passport or ID (valid on the day of the intake),
  • your diplomas and transcripts,
  • your essay,
  • a language certificate, if applicable.
You will find detailed information about required documents in the "Admissions Requirements".
An EHL admissions officer will review your online application. If you meet the admissions requirements, then you will receive an invitation to complete an online evaluation, computer-based, composed of:

The online interview
This interview lasts 20 minutes and we will ask you to turn on your webcam.

The analytical and quantitative aptitude test
This test is composed of 3 different exams in order to evaluate your leadership, interpersonal skills, analytical reasoning and motivation 

If you pass the online evaluation, you will be invited to take part in a Final Interview . The Final Interview is an opportunity for us to examine your interests and abilities in much greater depth.

The Final interview

The interview is not a test of your knowledge, and you will not be quizzed on specific facts. The aim is to assess your motivation, your potential and your suitability for the demands of the hospitality industry. We will ask you to tell us about your experience and your expectations. Our questions will focus, for example, on any summer jobs you may have had in the hospitality industry, your extracurricular activities and your international exposure.

Preparing for your Final Interview

No specific preparation is needed. However, to make sure you are choosing the right career, you should find out as much as you can about the hospitality industry, the career opportunities it offers and the training options available in our international hospitality management degree program.

 Once you receive your final decision, you must complete your enrollment on the EHL online portal.

Bachelor Course Fees

The tables indicate the fees breakdown for the Bachelor course, detailed information is available in the Student Contract. We remind students that their fees are secured through a Fee Protection Scheme. No tuition fees will be charged before receiving a signed student contract and before the 7 days cooling period. Please refer to our invoicing FAQ for further information regarding fees and payment modes. Please contact us for questions about financial aid.

EHL Campus (Singapore) provides accommodation support through arrangements with local providers. Students should budget about 6,500 SGD per semester for studio rental.

1. Communal services fees cover the costs related to the facilities, such as site security, student affairs services, career center services or alumni lifetime membership and are detailed in the table below:

Communal services include membership with an external partner for sports activities. Students who did not submit their membership application within the deadline at the start of each semester will not be allowed to enjoy the membership benefit. Students pursuing their industrial attachment or who deferred their studies are not entitled to this membership.

2. F&B and Printing Fees refer to the prepaid amount for Food & Beverage and printing services offered on campus. Please note that EHL Campus (Singapore) offers breakfast and lunch services on-campus provided by a catering services company. Students pursuing their industrial attachment or who deferred their studies are not entitled to F&B and printing on campus during these periods.

3. Students will be invoiced the Course Fees and Mobility Top Up Fee (See Schedule C) after the cooling period upon signing of their Student Contract. The Mobility Top Up Fee must be paid within the 14-day deadline from the date of invoice for the students to secure their seats for the Mobility Semester. Failing of which may result in losing the seat for Mobility Semester and EHL Campus (Singapore) will activate the waiting list to fill the seat.

The fees stated here in SGD are indicative and may be adjusted at the time of issuing of student contract. The adjustment will be based on the official CHF rates and the exchange rate in force at that time.

Frequently Asked Questions

They are available in the Student Contract under schedule B.
We need to receive the payment in Singapore Dollars.
You will receive your first invoice following the signature of the Student Contract.
For international students, you will receive your first invoice after obtaining the In-Principle
Approval from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.

You will receive a reminder to make the payment as soon as possible. EHL reserves the right to deny you access to the course should payment have not been received by the payment deadline stated on your student contract.

Following this, the Finance Department will contact you to discuss the next steps based on your individual circumstances.
